Citing text evidence is an important, but difficult skill. As fifth graders, it is your job to quote accurately from the text to prove your statements and inferences. To do this well, you need to make sure that you're selecting a portion of the text that backs up or proves what you're saying and explain how that portion of text proves your argument.
When you cite the text, you do not need to use an entire sentence, only the part that actually proves your statement.
